I have to take moment to thank Angela Parham for her really fantastic work providing real quarantine for these horses. They arrived pretty sick with bad respiratory infections. It was such a nasty illness that they showed signs of complete recovery and then relapsed! (Side bar: this cost us an extra $1800 as we missed our scheduled haul....and additional QT time)
No matter Angela persisted and the mares and foals, now healthy, having completed well over 60 days in QT are on their way.
I complement Angela on her diligence as real quarantine is difficult to acomplish. One must keep sick horses FAR away from the barn or area other horses are in residence. Angela has 50 acres and is capable of providing just that scenario.
Yes this particular rescue became ridiculously expensive. Way more than we could have anticipated or have ever spent in the past 11 years.
Ella being sick was around $10,000 and these four with; ransom, QT time, vet bills, double hauling fees...well, it's a close second. I must turn my attention to a serious fundraiser.
People ask, and some criticize why ..there are horses closer...BUT I have to explain. I don't look for them, they find me.
It is truly in my heart, my belief, that God puts these creatures in front of me. These 4 especially needed so desperately a soft landing. Little Saffy probably 5 weeks old came off the kill lot bitten, swollen, all she had was mom. The 2 mares were terrified, must have been horribly treated in fear for their very lives.
So, I say bring them to me, to us at PMR. The money will be there. Let us focus on healing 4 more of God's beloved. And so we do.
