Quick post..exhausted...exhilarated! Drove up and back to Lake Tahoe in 40 hours ...moving a daughter into new digs for school. Anna Twinney is here! Our numbers have increased and we are excited..30 tomorrow night and well over our needed participants for the weekend....Can't wait! There are angels among us as well...more tomorrow!
The gang at Pregnant Mare Rescue is busy tidying up as we get ready for our guest. Anna Twinney, the amazing and gifted animal communicator is holding a 3-day workshop on the art of this spectacular skill right here at the PMRF ranch.
No, it's not voodoo or some kind of magic! It is a skill, a gift every single one of us has inside. Think of this skill as sleeping, until you choose to awaken it.
"Using your inherent gifts, you will telepathically connect and communicate with a being of another species. This two-way communication is accomplished not only with words, but with images, feelings, thoughts, emotions and other intuitive senses."
Haven't you ever experienced a "funny feeling", or you find yourself saying "I just can't put my finger on it..."? Intuition is a very powerful tool. Let's tap into it and see what we can learn.
We are all excited as the week-end approaches...more tomorrow!
The weekend was productive. We are cleaning and preparing for our workshop coming this weekend as it promises to fascinating and rewarding. Anna Twinney is well respected and world renown in her mastery of this talent.
Update to the new site: I have posted all the horses in need of homes. I am really hoping to place some of our gals into wonderful homes before the winter rains arrive. It is supposed to be a wet winter!
Please take a moment to visit our available horses page.
With the first day of Autumn we observe the Autumnal Equinox . Today the day and night are each about 12 hours long (with the actual time of equal day and night, in the Northern Hemisphere, occurring a few days after the autumnal equinox). The Sun crosses the celestial equator going southward; it rises exactly due east and sets exactly due west. This marks the change of seasons into fall. This is very important to horses as they are finely tuned and well connected to earth and our celestial surroundings. Winter coats begin to grow, & the mares will begin to end their estrus cycles. Nearly all mares are seasonally polyestrous and cycle when day length is long. The changes are subtle, yet as we watch and take note, they are important. Enjoy your Monday and the first day of Autumn.
I begin this morning speaking about current day abuse. I am not speaking of horses starving, abandoned or ignored. Ironically, these horses are spectacular representations of Equine perfection. They are carefully bred, and trained and tortured. Yes, I said tortured. Rollkur, or hyperflexion of the horse's neck is a practice in equestrianism defined as "flexion of the horse's neck achieved through aggressive force" and is banned by the world governing body, the Federation Equestrian International (FEI). The FEI recognizes a distinction between rollkur and the riding of the horse in a deep outline not achieved by force.
Why bring it up? Because relationship to horse, & human-horse connection cannot occur when abuse and torture is present.
This morning Inge van der Woude, posted the following on LinkedIn and it was drawn to my attention by Joni Solis.
It is a photo of the Spanish Riding School in Vienna, taken by the well known rollkur critic and veterinarian, Dr. Ulrike Thiel. As Inge pointed out, it appears it's not just competition dressage riders who make use of rollkur as a schooling technique for their horses.
As one of the commentators on LinkedIn said, the really sad thing is that they have probably been trained to do this for generations and it's unlikely they're going to be changing their approach anytime soon. The fact that this all takes place behind high walls and closed doors makes even more unlikely.
Inge's advice is not to visit the school if you go to Vienna and by the same token, I suggest you don't go to any of their live events unless you intend to declare that the emperor is again without clothes.
Check the image on the right.. or not. Horrible.
Everyday is an opportunity to learn kindness and connect.
It has been a while in the making and like any labor of love, it has our whole heart and soul! Please take a moment to browse each page, enjoy the pictures and reflect on some of the quotes. We feel so strongly and energized about our work ~ We hope our inspiration shines through!
Meet the newest member of our family. A Premarin mare for many years, this lovely mare was standing on the auction lot when she was purchased for riding. To her good fortune, the potential rider suffered an injury that took riding out of his equation. She was headed back to the auction lot when a sweet elderly woman happened to meet her. She was horrified at the thought of this enormous mare being sent to slaughter. In her words, "I ran home to collect my money thinking all along how I was going to explain this to my sister. You see, I am on social security and I live with her, and well, we don't know a thing about horses, and actually....we have a yard full of goats!"
I was entertained by this woman's candid explanation of this not-so-small-predicament! And she continued, " I just knew in my heart this would all work out. So, I have to share with you Lynn dear, it is all working out just fine. Angel likes to help with the laundry you see, and when I am hanging the linens out on the line, she stands quietly holding one garment at a time until I am ready. Have you ever heard of such horse behavior? Oh and she babysits my great-grandson. I peek out the window and see them reading books, walking the yard or just visiting. She just tickles my heart! "
I asked Dorthy to send me pics of Angel, explained we would raise the money to haul her to us and promised to take good care of her. What we didn't know is that Angel truly lives up to her name. Sweet, gentle, smart and so willing, she is an excellent horse for children's work.
We welcome Angel to PMRF ! Enjoy the pic's! (When we get one of her doing laundry, I promise to share!!)
