PG&E begins work tomorrow taking down the eucalyptus grove on my property. It has been 10 years of these magnificent trees creating a microclimate when the Sept and Oct. sun bears down and providing natural flea and tick repellent for our pals. They will be greatly missed.
We dismantled our round pen and the entire top pasture fenceline to create temporary paddocks in our neighbors pasture. Thanks go out to our new volunteers Rick and Amy, lovely Denna and awesome Reina and my son Robert for their labor and unbelievable help! My neighbor Nancy is SO GENEROUS letting us set up camp in her pasture.
We moved 3 of our mares and it was , well.... interesting. One mare Abby halters, and the other two rescues are untouchable..They took one look at the 60 acres and I could almost hear them scream...YeeHaw!!!! Run baby run...They were gorgeous galloping across the afternoon shadows.
Hay is enticing and soon enough they returned for dinner :) We hope the work will go quickly and all will return to normal very soon. Fingers Crossed !!
Many of you on Facebook and those who receive our newsletter know that our little Frank sustained a pretty good cut on his rear leg. We were concerned about a tendon or joint injury...but we are blessed! He is making a full recovery!
The bad news is,
it is a bit..ahem expensive...If you can donate, every penny helps!!!
I have to thank Donna for being such a great Hauler. These guys are terrific. A quick trip from Gilroy to PMR. I will gentle up the boys, geld them and get them ready for their new home in Arizona.
I love checking into The Horseconscious Website. If you havent already do so, take a moment to check it out. Mark provides much inspiration and resources for bettering our relationship with horse! His Advisory Board has a collection of the very best in the business of developing the Horse-Human Connection. Add Klaus Ferdinand Hempfling and I think they are all there. Enjoy!
From Mark "I heard this week about a new film that is due out based on the life of Mark Rashid, who also wrote both the novel and screenplay, which is called 'Out of the Wild'.
I know a great many HorseConscious readers are fans of Mark's work and I am sure this will be another important film in furthering the message of how horses can help and guide us.
I'm looking forward to seeing it when it is released and will let you know as soon as I hear."
