Pregnant Mare Rescue is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to rescuing abandoned horses and giving them a chance at a new life. We provide a safe natural environment for mares to foal and nurture their young until they can be adopted.

This year, Alex Scott, a local high school senior and Girl Scout, has taken on the project of building a round pen that will be used to train young horses at the ranch so they can be safely adopted. When completed, she will earn her Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award a Girl Scout can earn—equivalent to the Boy Scout Eagle Award.

We are reaching out to local individuals and organizations that might consider making donations to the Pregnant Mare Rescue for this project. Your donations, monetary and in-kind, will go directly to the round pen, including sand for footing and plywood panels for fencing. It is only possible for Alex to complete this project through your generous donations to Pregnant Mare Rescue.

We have the metal fencing for the round pen, but we still need the following:

• 20 pieces of 4’ x 8’ plywood to cover fencing – $16.95 each x 20 = $339
• 98 tons of arena sand – $40/ton x 98 = $3,926
• Tractor for leveling sand (2 hrs) – $90/hr = $180
• Volunteers with trucks for delivery of arena sand
• Volunteers for installation of fence and panels

When it’s done, this round pen will allow us to train the young horses so they can be adopted!

If you want to help complete this project, there are many ways you can participate:

• Donate money for materials and labor.
• Donate materials—they need not be brand new!
• Contact Pregnant Mare Rescue to volunteer your time on the round pen project.
