Denna Stone for all Foal Gentling and hands on horse classes 831.840.9312

READ (Reading Equine Art Duo) sessions (www.readhorseprogram.com) $55 (one student per session)
Lisa founded the READ program two years ago at PMR. She has been teaching literacy development for over 20 years (K-College). She uses a variety of techniques, strategies, and modalities to customize her instructional approach to meet the needs of each student and achieve positive results.
The READ program is incredibly unique in that Lisa utilizes horses’ natural, grounding energy to facilitate a calm, relaxing, and nurturing environment.
Thus, with each READ session, students progressively move along their learning continuum at their pace as they develop essential reading skills: fluency, reading comprehension, and confidence.

Foal Gentling $65 per session
Denna provides a unique opportunity for one-on-one sessions with the foals. She gently guides both child and foal through reciprocal, intuitive, and balanced interactions. This ‘giving and receiving’ is subtle, yet very powerful! Through partnership, they teach and learn from each other. It’s as if they are engaged in a magical dance of mutual understanding and trust.

Story Tellers ~ Learn to Write Your Story
Lisa believes that reading and writing are two sides of the same literacy coin. Because of this, she is offering a Story Tellers course which provides step-by-step guidance on how to write nonfictional sentences, paragraphs, and eventually academic essays, in addition to creative fictional stories and novels. Students will also have an opportunity to share their published work to the world on her website: www.PACTS4change.com (under construction now).

Lastly, since this is a small group class, students will have an opportunity to collaborate with their peers and other adults to build essential cooperative social skills.

Students learn about story elements, such as: (plot, setting, characters, problem/solution, conflict/resolution, theme, mood, continuity, and flow), in addition to learning how to pace themselves and meet deadline dates. Once students understand this, they will be ready to create and publish their own books. It's a GREAT feeling to have written and published your own work!

About Lisa (Curriculum Designer):
Lisa has been an educator for over 20 years teaching a variety of subject areas K-College: Literacy Development, English Language Development (ELD), Environmental Education, and Social Justice for all. She has a Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential, a Master’s in Education, and a Ph.D. in Science Education. She has also designed state of the art curriculum for one of the leading Environmental websites in the world, Mongabay.com. https://education.mongabay.com/lisa-m-algee/
Lisa has a passion and vision for changing the face of education. She believes, “We have to change the way we teach. Teaching one subject domain at a time is not as meaningful nor as interesting and motivating as teaching in an integrated, multidisciplinary fashion within a real life context. Our society has changed, and with these changes, we must provide dynamic learning environments where students participate as active stewards for positive productive change. Today’s issues are incredibly multifaceted and complex. We need to prepare our youth now so that they can successfully navigate their world and create/contribute innovative solutions.”
Denna (Equine Specialist):
The quintessential horse whisperer, Denna's talents bring the peace and serenity only found in 'sharing
created space'. Healing and rehabilitation take place as Denna guides all who visit through the nuances of equine
conversation. By observing, the lessons she shares can be life changing for horse and human. Her touch and
intuition play an extremely important role in developing trust-based partnerships.
Denna plays a critical role in fulfilling our mission statement of honoring horses as sentient beings;
educating the public on the plight of horses in today's world; and bringing children into the fold, as they represent
our hope for a better tomorrow.
It's a world changing effort to help humans understand the gifts horses hold, and the needs they have in
today’s world. Denna is our gifted human changing the lives of horses and children here every day.
